Short Stay
by STAMULI
What shapes our sense of belonging, even in the most fleeting of settings? Stamuli, the Stockholm-based studio founded by Emanuele Stamuli, turns this question into a poetic meditation on transient spaces, using the evocative setting of one of the historic mansions of the Miami River Inn as its stage.
The installation reimagines the quintessential motel room—familiar to the point of anonymity, vibrantly colored yet stripped down to its bare essentials. But beneath its functional surface lies a quiet intimacy. A fresh bloom rests on a pile of books; a vase glows under the warm light of a floor lamp. These scattered objects evoke the presence of an unseen occupant, where every piece, however ordinary, carries a personal narrative and emotional weight. In this space, belonging isn’t tied to luxury but to the acceptance of impermanence. It’s a reminder that comfort can come from the smallest details and that depth can be found in the objects we choose to keep close. Against the backdrop of the River Inn’s lush greenery and architecture, Stamuli creates a sanctuary where the boundaries between place, memory, and identity dissolve, inviting visitors to reflect on the ephemeral nature of home.
