The factory is my playground”

During Salone del Mobile 2019, Studio Joris de Groot will show various collaborations, all started from the factory floor. Projects such as the “Pleated Seat”, “2000N Pressed Shoe” and “Weld bag” will be part of the exhibition. Not only the end results, but also the process will be shown. Because the research is at least as important as the end result. By presenting the process from inspiration to the end product and everything in between, Joris gives you a look into his way of working. He aims to show that experimenting with the existing techniques and materials can lead to innovative results.

Joris de Groot is a designer searching for the connection between craftsmanship and industry in his work. Interested in collaborating with the industry, Joris creates his own workplace within the factory grounds. Once familiar with the process of the existing techniques, he experiments with the available machinery and materials for new innovative uses.
