Béton Brut x Salvino Marsura
Béton Brut announces its representation of the estate of the late artist Salvino Marsura (1938–2020). As such, the London gallery will be hosting special exhibitions of Marsura’s work over the next three years, kicking off with Milan design week, London craft week and London design festival in 2025. This April, the gallery is showcasing monumental sculptures by Marsura at Alcova's Villa Borsani. The installation features three of his most notable outdoor works: ‘Comandanti nell'isola’, ‘Homage to Kennedy’, and ‘Built in 3000’. Through these imposing yet tactile sculptures, Marsura challenges the rigidity of the metal, coaxing it into weightless forms, breathing air into the steel. The sculptures are placed in the villa’s entrance gardens, offering visitors a striking introduction as they approach the historic early twentieth century residence.
Salvino Marsura (1938-2020) was an artist and designer specialising in artisanal metalwork. After learning his craft in the dynamic workshop of sculptor — ‘iron poet’ — Toni Benetton, he spent more than 60 years producing sculpture, furniture, objects and memorials in his hometown of Treviso, Italy. His distinctive hand marries elements of brutalism and traditional decorative arts.
Béton Brut gallery presents rare, design-led furniture from Europe and Japan. The collection, drawn from over a century of design, coheres around functional art and sculptural forms. Founded in 2013 by design dealer Sophie Pearce, the London gallery also represents artists who share its design philosophy, presenting exclusive and often limited edition bodies of work.
