Guatemala Diseña con las Manos

"Guatemala Diseña con las Manos" aims to showcase the historical, creative, and cultural richness of Guatemala through the talent and creativity of its designers, in a dialogue between design, art, traditions, and high craftsmanship.
The project brings together fourteen design studios, collaborating with Guatemalan artisans in order to explore the fusion between contemporary creativity and ancestral techniques,
demonstrating the transformative potential of design in responding to the challenges of modern society. The installation hosting them is inspired by Temple I of Tikal, known as the Great Jaguar—an iconic 7th-century AD pyramid, a symbol of classical Mayan architecture and a UNESCO heritage site since 1979—and retains its monumentality, albeit in a reduced version.
Made with sustainable materials such as wood, handcrafted textiles of Casa Edel, and braided steel cables, the installation is designed by Idonika Studio with Amarillo Studio.
The Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT), promoter of the initiative, aims to raise awareness of the country as a tourist destination and as an international reference point for design and
craftsmanship.
