Kilzi
by Kilzi (Jorge Suarez-Kilzi) and curated artists
Kilzi, my mother's name, is an homage to movement and the lives that came before me. Objects hold more than mere function or materiality; they shape our identity, and the spaces they inhabit become, in turn, part of who we are. My work seeks to express layered emotions through refined, essential forms. Materials serve as languages, shapes remain fluid, and meaning is abundant.
Each project begins with the freedom and curiosity of a child, yet carries the depth and serenity of those who have spent a lifetime understanding themselves and their surroundings.
I envision my pieces as companions—integrated into daily life, fostering connection, and, above all, bringing joy.
Jorge’s journey is a testament to a life marked by movement, shaped by the vibrant cultural tapestry of Latin America, a rigorous education in Spain and Switzerland and the artistic discipline of Japan. His architectural skills were honed in the prestigious offices of Sejima+Nishizawa Associated Architects (SANAA) and Junya Ishigami, where he absorbed the delicate balance between fluidity and structure.
In 2018, driven by a profound passion for design and a desire to create beyond conventional boundaries, Jorge became a freelance architect and artist. His work seamlessly blends architectural visualisation with the tactile and intricate beauty of his furniture and lighting pieces.
