MATERIAL BAR
by Centre for Creativity, Museum of Architecture and Design
The Centre for Creativity (CzK), together with the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO) in Ljubljana, presents the Slovenian space MATERIAL BAR, curated by Katarina Dekleva, Rok Oblak and Bor Pungerčič. The presentation will come to life as part of Alcova on the 1st floor of Villa Bagatti Valsecchi, which will house Slovenia’s innovative and sustainable design practices. It will focus on the creative process behind the work of the 11 practitioners, who will engage visitors by animating the space throughout the week, encouraging collaboration and exploration. MATERIAL BAR will be a collective, public space – a bar with a central counter where design practices will unfold, surrounded by a vertical mosaic of materials and products, while in the centre events will take place around a double-height bar, allowing the public to both observe and collaborate. It will use smells, tastes, sounds and movement to engage visitors on a sensory and experiential level, encouraging active reflection on issues such as recycling, reuse and work ethics. The presentation will be presented in the Materialist magazine, which will be distributed to all visitors throughout the event.
