The New Raw
by The New Raw
The New Raw presents its sustainable furniture series, exploring the craftsmanship of plastic with robotic 3D printing with recycled plastic. The installation in Alcova features four pieces: Knotty Stool, referencing digital craftsmanship; Ermis Chair, with its monolithic form; Bench X, a playful and interactive bench; and Pot Plus, an organic-shaped bench with integrated planter.
More than furniture, the exhibit reflects The New Raw’s circular approach—local, on-demand robotic production, durable, fully recyclable products, and zero-waste manufacturing. Each piece is made from a single material, ensuring easy recycling.
By working with local recyclers, we reduce waste and emissions while exploring new colors, textures, and material finishes. Every object is printed in-house, designed to last, and part of a closed-loop system that redefines craftsmanship through technology.
The New Raw is a research and design studio based in Rotterdam (Netherlands) founded in 2015 by architects Panos Sakkas and Foteini Setaki with the ambition to give new life to discarded materials through design, robots and craftsmanship. The New Raw develops its own (digital) craftsmanship techniques through a formal and technical language that highlights the texture and the layer-by-layer character of its in-house robotic manufacturing process. The exploration of the possibilities that the robotic techniques provide transform plastic waste into beautiful and meaningful products that are 100% circular.
