Under The Volcano
by Ranieri
Ranieri presents Under the Volcano, an immersive installation that explores the primal power of the volcano through matter, sound, and space. Art, design, and technology intertwine in a multisensory experience shaped by three key elements: the eroded rocks generated by the algorithmic simulations of artist Quayola, the soundscape composed by musician Rodrigo D’Erasmo, and the evocative architecture designed by creative directors Francesco Meda and David Lopez Quincoces. Amorphous lava blocks, sculpted by a robotic arm following computational erosion models developed by Quayola, transform stone into a form suspended between the natural and the artificial. D’Erasmo’s sound design, built on low frequencies and deep vibrations, evokes the bubbling magma beneath the Earth's crust. Meda and Lopez Quincoces’ installation, inspired by Barragán’s towers, employs lava stone tiles to enhance verticality and light. For Ranieri, the volcano serves as a metaphor for its philosophy: the transformation of matter as a creative act, where unpredictability becomes an aesthetic expression.
Renowned for its mastery of volcanic stone craftsmanship, Ranieri transforms lava into exceptional expressions of art, architecture, and interior design. Nestled at the foot of Mount Vesuvius and backed by centuries of expertise, the company merges artisanal tradition with industrial innovation. Its collections, spanning from cladding to furniture, are developed in collaboration with leading luxury brands. A profound knowledge of the material, a spirit of continuous experimentation, and an unwavering drive to reinterpret its potential have cemented Ranieri’s reputation as a global leader in quality and innovation.
