Dual
by Pininfarina
Originally presented at ACADIA 2025 within the FIU campus, DUAL is a pavilion that explores the reconciliation between seemingly opposite forces — intuition and computation, emotion and reason, art and science. Conceived under the theme “Computing for Resilience”, it positions design as a democratic act where human creativity and digital intelligence merge toward collective well-being.
Through a synthesis of top-down poetic gesture and bottom-up algorithmic logic, DUAL reflects Pininfarina’s legacy of uniting elegance and performance. Its aerodynamic, monocoque structure — constructed from recycled car tires — embodies transformation and renewal, suggesting that the very tools responsible for environmental harm can become agents of repair. The use of DFMA principles (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) ensures efficiency, adaptability, and circularity, reinforcing the pavilion’s message of resilience and responsibility.
During Alcova Miami 2025, DUAL evolves into an immersive dialogue between architecture and art through the collaboration of Patrick Tuttofuoco.
As a spatial manifesto, DUAL celebrates the harmony of artistry and computation — a call for a future where design is both expressive and regenerative.
