Incremental
by VINCENT LAINE
Increment is an exploration of the delta between a sheet of stainless steel and a chair.
Bent four times, a total of 280 degrees.
Increment by increment, it shifts from being to becoming.
As a piece of furniture, it oscillates between our relation to gravity and our dependency on comfort. Ultimately to support full presence over simple existence.
Vincent Laine is a Norwegian-based designer known for creating contemporary icons that merge precision with emotion. Over the past decade, his work has helped shape brands such as Leica, Hasselblad, and Db, where he served as Creative Director through its LVMH-backed chapter. Today, he works independently through his own studio, imagining far-fetched near futures. His recent project, Immaterial, a 300 kg sculptural furniture piece presented at Paris Fashion Week and featured in Wallpaper, reflects his ongoing pursuit of turning future optimism into form.
