PRESENZE
by GAILAZ
Presenza reflects on the human process of transformation and renewal, translating the cycle of change into spatial form. Identity is often composed of inherited patterns—traces of family, culture, and history—that can be re-examined, released, and recomposed into a more authentic self.
Rather than fragments repaired after rupture, Presenza is formed by multiple elements conceived to exist together—distinct yet interdependent. Each part contributes its own texture and resonance, and through their union, a new wholeness emerges.
In contemporary design discourse, the installation engages with ideas of modularity, coexistence, and the poetic potential of composition. By assembling pieces that are not remnants but deliberate presences, Presenza offers a meditation on transformation, unity, and the quiet strength of becoming whole.
GAILAZ is a studio born from the encounter of architecture, design and art, founded by Gaia Sonzogni and Ilaria “Ilaz” Bocchicchio in 2024 after their first collaborative project, La Corte, in Miami Beach. The practice merges design, architecture, and artistic intervention into what they define as structural art: a dialogue between form, space, and emotion. Their work spans site-specific installations and collectible objects, where Gaia’s architectural vision and Ilaz’s artistic gesture meet to explore materiality, presence, and transformation.
