THE BALL COLLECTION

The Ball Collection is a series of cast ceramic balls that explore sandy textures and return the material to its raw, natural state.
Each piece is created through an intuitive casting process using different natural clay bodies, without any added pigments or artificial coloration. The resulting hues and textures emerge solely from the clays themselves, producing soft, earthy tones and organic surface variations that evoke the feeling of ground and soil.
Although made using molds, each ball is uniquely shaped by subtle shifts during casting, drying, and firing — making every piece one of a kind, a singular expression of the natural process that formed it. The series emphasizes the individuality of the material and the quiet presence of time embedded in the process.
The series not only showcases the material but also engages with concepts of nature, time, and process, inviting the viewer to observe and feel the connection between the material and nature.
Mor Tamir Rappaport is a designer and ceramic artist, and the founder of MTR Studio, a multidisciplinary practice merging ceramic work with spatial thinking.
Her work explores the relationship between material, time, and process, focusing on natural clays and tactile textures.
Through gentle and mindful making, she creates one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces shaped by the clay’s natural behavior and transformation over time.
