Anna Galtarossa X M/U Mariantonia Urru
by Anna Galtarossa
Contemporary art meets an ancient weaving tradition
Conceived as a retrospective, artist Anna Galtarossa’s designs portray her sculptures and installations. Wool and cotton then give life to these images through the expert hands at M/U Mariantonia Urru in Sardinia. The textile company uses historical looms and ancient weaving techniques, passed down through generations, to handcraft high quality tapestries. The luscious beanbags on display at Alcova 2026 are the latest evolution in this dialogue between tradition and personal mythology.
Anna Galtarossa lives and works between Verona and New York. She devotes her practice to installations, sculpture, film, weaving and VR. Behind an apparent playfulness, often using recycled materials, her symbolic and evocative works challenge us to seek out the less visible sides of existence.
