“As” is a series that reexamines asphalt through a contemporary lens, focusing on its fundamental role as a material that connects disparate elements. Historically used as an adhesive—and in Japan since the Jomon period to bind wood and stone—this project interprets asphalt as a mediator. By uniting metal, stone, resin, and other materials through asphalt, the series explores new forms of expression, realized as a furniture collection including stools, side tables, and lighting.

SO KOIZUMI DESIGN was established in Tokyo in 2021. I specialize in a wide range of design fields, including spatial and product design, and regularly unveil works that originate from the unique thinking and experimental approach of designer So Koizumi.
