biiit, lamp collection
by MANO design studio
biiit, the Korean word 'bit (빛)', defined as 'light'.
My work is a meditative resistance against the flawless uniformity, where objects have become homogenized and stripped of their soul. By inscribing stitches onto traditional Hanji, I seek to restore the lost ''thingness' of our surroudings.
Founded in 2016 by Bo Ah Kim as MANO, the Seoul-based practice explores light, material, and space. Trained in interior design in Korea and product design in Milan, Kim creates lighting and objects with Hanji (KoreanTraditional Paper), handcrafted to form a poetic dialogue between light and material.
