Garden of Hope

Rive Roshan Presents ‘Garden of Hope’ at Alcova Milan: Cultivating a Sanctuary of Light and Reflection within the Grounds of the former Baggio Military Hospital
Following their successful installation within the fountain of Villa Bagatti Valsecchi last year, Amsterdam-based studio Rive Roshan returns to Milan Design Week 2026 with a site-specific spatial installation that offers a luminous juxtaposition against the site’s military heritage. Monumental, coloured glass monoliths act as dynamic optical instruments – refracting light, projecting kaleidoscopic hues across the landscape, and endlessly reflecting the surroundings via mirrored surfaces. This kinetic environment translates the audio frequencies of songs of resistance and hope into a choreographed visual dance. Rooted in the designers' Dutch and Australian-Iranian heritage, the work materialises rhythms from songs longing for freedom into a poetic exploration of materiality, optics, and global resilience.
Based in Amsterdam, Rive Roshan is an art and design duo creating immersive installations and objects that endeavour to shift perspectives. By exploring the interplay of light, colour, space, and material, they aim to invoke curiosity. They work on commissions internationally, and their widely exhibited work features in major international collections across the globe.
