MISSION SEATING CAROUSEL
by STUDIO CHRISTINEKALIA
Mission Seating transforms industrial remnants into objects of rest. Crafted from repurposed aluminum window profiles, each piece echoes the precision of spacecraft interiors — construction offcuts turned into structural seating with purpose and intention. For Milan, the collection is presented as a carousel: chairs suspended from a central axis, forming a circle of shared presence. The circular gathering , one of humanity's oldest social forms, erases hierarchy and invites collective pause. You buckle in as astronauts do, preparing for the unknown. Warm orange surfaces recall re-entry heat shields, blending cold industrial material with human warmth.
Christine Kalia is a design studio exploring modes of spatial relations between architectural, interior and product design. The studio’s vision is calibrated towards ecocentric design and contemporary aesthetics; where the end products manifest the prime materials. The various collections take different approaches to this design mode, often seen as sitting in-between reality and daydreaming. The “coming from” of each design’s unique materiality is carefully crafted towards a “belonging with”, where the sophisticated design of the studio’s products is complementing any environment, in order to elevate its aesthetic aura.
