Semiophores: Obiecta Animata
by Oliwia Maria Studio & Curator Bureau
The exhibition explores objects as living presences rather than passive tools. Drawing on Krzysztof Pomian’s concept of the semiophore, the exhibition illustrates how decontextualization transforms functional items into artifacts animated by the human gaze and interpretation. This conceptual framework extends into the abandoned space, where invading greenery highlights a fundamental asymmetry: while these collectible objects depend on human presence and "relational activation" to gain vitality, the flora thrives autonomously. The result is a profound tension between the human-dependent life of design and the indifferent, self-sufficient power of nature.
